Frequently Asked Questions
No. Mili never connects to RingCentral. No plugin, no API, no permissions to grant. Mili runs on your device (desktop, laptop) and listens through the microphone and speaker, the same ones already carrying your conversation. Think of it like having a brilliant assistant sitting at your desk during a speakerphone call, taking notes from what they hear. Your client doesn't know they're there.
No. Mili doesn't record through RingCentral or at all. It listens through your device and converts audio to structured notes in real time. The audio is processed instantly. No recording is ever created, stored, or saved. There's nothing to play back and nothing that could ever be subpoenaed. Just clean, organized notes.
No. Mili doesn't need access to your RingCentral account. It works independently through your device's hardware. There's nothing to install in RingCentral, no permissions to grant, and no IT admin approval needed for RingCentral specifically. Just open Mili alongside your RingCentral call and hit "Start."
Not at all. Once you hit Start, go right back to your RingCentral call and focus on your client. Mili works entirely in the background. You'll see a small persistent overlay with a soundwave indicator on your screen, that's your confirmation that note-taking is active. You don't need to look at it, switch tabs, or check on Mili at any point during the call.
Nothing changes on Mili's end. Because Mili listens through your device not through RingCentral's system it works the same way whether you're on RingCentral, Dialpad, Vonage, 8x8, Grasshopper, Google Voice, or any other phone system. If you switch platforms tomorrow, Mili still works exactly the same.
Mili uses your device's microphone and speaker the same hardware your computer already uses for the call. It captures your voice through the microphone and your client's voice through the speaker. Think of it this way: if an assistant was sitting next to you while you were on speakerphone, they wouldn't need to be plugged into your phone to take notes. They'd just listen. That's exactly how Mili works.
Mili works with headsets, earbuds, speakerphone, and any other audio setup. As long as your device is processing the call audio, Mili can hear it and take notes. No changes needed on your end.
If you're on a physical desk phone, Mili can still capture notes as long as your device's microphone can pick up the audio. Many advisors use speakerphone on their desk phone with Mili running on their laptop nearby. It works just like having a note-taker in the room. For the best experience, we recommend taking calls through RingCentral's desktop or mobile app, where Mili can hear both sides of the conversation clearly.
