Managing Mili in an Enterprise / IT Managed Environment

Mili supports two deployment models for IT teams. Choose the one that fits how your organization handles app updates.

Note: These steps apply to the macOS app only. On other platforms (Windows and mobile), download the app and distribute it directly through your MDM. No extra configuration is required.

Option 1: Install once, let automatic updates handle the rest

Use this if you don't want to approve or push every update manually. The key is installing Mili into the user's Applications folder (~/Applications) instead of the system folder (/Applications). This lets Mili update itself without admin rights for each release.

1. Remove existing installs. Uninstall any current Mili app from the device first.

2. Download the install script. Get the template install script. It installs the latest version of Mili into the user's ~/Applications folder.

Note: This is a template only. Review and adjust it for your MDM setup before deploying. Mili is not responsible for any issues caused by running it as is.

3. Run as the signed in user. This is critical. If it runs as root, Mili installs into the system /Applications folder (or fails), which breaks the automatic updates.

Option 2: Keep every update under IT control

Use this if your IT team wants to review and push each Mili update through your MDM.

1. Disable auto updates. Download the configuration profile and deploy it to your managed devices through your MDM. This turns off automatic updates for all managed users.

Note: Restart the Mili app for this change to take effect.

2. Register for update notifications. Email us at support@getmili.ai from your IT contact address. We'll add you to our notification list and alert you whenever a new version is available, so you can push it through your MDM.

3. Always use the latest build. The download link we provide always points to the most recent Mili release.
